Privacy Policy
The short version: We collect only what we need to run the service. We never sell your data. We never store your sportsbook passwords. Your betting history belongs to you.
1. Who we are
The Sharps Ledger ("we", "us", "our") is a sports betting analytics tool operated as an independent software service. We are not a sportsbook and do not accept wagers. Contact us at privacy@thesharpsedger.io with any questions about this policy.
2. What information we collect
We collect only information necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Your email address, name, and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text — it is irreversibly hashed using bcrypt before storage.
- Betting history: Bet records you manually enter or import via CSV/PDF. This includes event names, odds, stakes, results, and profit/loss figures you provide. We do not access your sportsbook accounts — all data comes directly from you.
- Usage data: Standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This data is used for security monitoring and deleted after 30 days.
- Payment information: Subscription billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. We store only your Stripe customer ID, which is a reference token with no card data.
- Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.
3. What we do not collect
- Your sportsbook login credentials — we never ask for them
- Your real-money account balances at any sportsbook
- Your location beyond what is standard in server logs
- Any biometric data
- Data from children — our service is for users 18 and older only
4. How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the Sharps Ledger service
- To send your personalized morning digest email (if enabled)
- To process your subscription payments through Stripe
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
We do not use your data to train machine learning models, sell to advertisers, or share with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Who we share data with
We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to operate the service:
- Stripe: Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- SendGrid: Email delivery for morning digest and account notifications. Subject to SendGrid's privacy policy.
- Railway / hosting provider: Server infrastructure. Your data resides on servers they provide. They do not have access to your application data.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and betting history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Server logs are deleted after 30 days. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@thesharpsedger.io.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access all data we hold about you — email us and we will provide a complete export
- Correct inaccurate data in your account settings
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your betting history at any time from your account settings
- Opt out of the morning digest email in your account settings
If you are in the European Union or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. Contact us at privacy@thesharpsedger.io to exercise any of these rights.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including bcrypt password hashing, HTTPS-only connections, and encrypted database connections. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify you promptly if we become aware of any security breach affecting your data.
9. Cookies
We use only a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services.
10. Age requirement
The Sharps Ledger is intended for users 18 years of age or older. Sports betting is restricted to adults in all jurisdictions where it is legal. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account immediately.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
